Steps to Obtain a Trade License

1. Determine Your Business Type

• Sole Trader, Partnership, Limited Company, or other business entity.

• The type of business will determine the application form and required documents.

2. Contact Local City Corporation or Municipality

• You must apply to the City Corporation or Municipality where your business is located.

3. Prepare the Required Documents

Typically, the following documents are needed:

1. Application Form – Filled out from the City Corporation or Municipality

2. Trade Name Approval Letter (if applicable)

3. National ID / TIN / Passport Copy – Owner’s identification

4. Business Address Proof – Rent agreement or ownership document

5. Partnership Deed (for Partnership businesses)

6. Company Incorporation Certificate (for Limited Companies)

7. Photographs – Owner or directors

    

  4. Pay the Fee

• The Trade License fee depends on your business type, size, and location.

• Fees are determined by the City Corporation or Municipality and require annual renewal.

  5. Submit Application & Obtain Approval

• Submit all documents along with the application fee.

• The City Corporation office will verify your application.

• Once approved, the Trade License Certificate will be issued.

  6. Renewal

• Trade Licenses are usually valid for 1 year.

• You must renew annually and pay the renewal fee.

  Extra Tips

• Ensure your business address is accurate and complies with government regulations.

• For Partnerships or Companies, provide NID/Passport copies of all owners/shareholders.

• RJSC Registered Companies must attach their Incorporation Certificate with the application.
